Our construction is just like fine furniture. You are making a significant investment in furniture for your windows, so is stands to reason you should expect the same construction methods as used on fine furniture. Mortise and Tenon joins are the strongest method known for making a joint. Not only to we use the best construction method known, we enhance the strength with glue and screws to insure the joints are rock solid and guaranteed not to separate.
Our Engineered Wood substitute louvers are co-extruded with aluminum stabilizers on panels over 20” wide, to insure increased rigidity and no warping. This is the reason we can make panels up to the same width as wood shutters. The aluminum center stabilizer insures our louvers remain perfectly straight and will provide decades of trouble free use.
William House Faux Shutters will give you peace of mind in knowing that your window furniture will not be an accelerant in the event of fire. We are one of only a handful of shutter products available that exceed both national, and the more stringent California certification standards, for flame retardancy. Not only our William House Faux Shutters Certified Flame Retardant, but on the other end of the spectrum, are also water resistant, and great for use in high humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens. Wood and MDF shutters do not fare as well in high humidity areas.

Basswood is commonly used to create beautiful furniture, wood flooring and window coverings…but where does basswood come from? The basswood tree, sometimes called the linden tree, is native to Great Britain and Eastern North America. The wood is soft, light and uniform in its texture, so there’s not a lot of grain to it. The advantage of basswood is its natural resistance to warping and it generally has a low occurrence of knots and other defects. Because of this, it’s often used as a veneer. It is also used in boxes, crates, mill-work, and as you know, William House North American Basswood Shutters!
